Reflexion and synergies, day of collaboration, insight, and forward momentum!

SWEET Lantern light came in Bern for a day of reflection and collaboration. The day’s focus is on diving deep into the systems we’re working to improve, identifying overlaps and synergies, and mapping the connections between different components within the consortium. By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise from across our work packages, we aim to refine our shared vision, align our mission, and strengthen our collective impact.

System Analysis workshop

The Lantern consortium is addressing various aspects of living and working in the Swiss energy transition, represented through its diverse work packages. Using the socio-technical system concept from Transition Studies, these efforts are understood as interconnected, smaller systems. Ahead of this workshop, system diagrams were created to map out key components, overlaps, and synergies. The focus of the day is on connecting these systems to foster stronger collaboration and impact.

Socio-technical system: “Configuration of actors, technologies and institutions for fulfilling a certain societal function; manifestations (phenotype) of regimes” (Kanger and Schot, 2019)
Vision & mission workshop

The aim is to re-align efforts, values, and goals into a shared and actionable framework. Through dynamic discussions using the World Café format, the consortium explored our identity, vision and core values, and mission and key goals. This interactive process helped uncover common ground and strengthen alignment across the consortium.

Value Chain to market

Challenges around funding streams were also addressed, exploring ways to tackle gaps strategically. Emphasis was placed on smaller, cost-effective pilots to validate ideas, leveraging living labs as controlled environments to test solutions, and involving end-users and local communities to co-finance or support these initiatives.

Retrospective workshop

The day concluded with a reflection on project management, knowledge and technology transfer (KTT), and communication. This retrospective identified areas for improvement and established a stronger foundation for clearer processes, better communication, and impactful outcomes in the future.
