A Climate Education Game for Alpine Tourism Stakeholders

The Mountain Tourism Fresk is a climate education game designed specifically for tourism stakeholders in the Alps. Its primary goal is to raise awareness about the implications of climate change in alpine destinations and to promote behavioral change towards sustainability. This project addresses both adaptation strategies and the root causes of tourism-related emissions, including:

  • Inbound and outbound tourism
  • Construction
  • Food consumption
  • Equipment use

In this interactive game, participants actively engage to enhance their climate literacy and co-create solutions tailored to their tourism destinations.

How the Game Works?

  • Exploration of causes and impacts: Facilitator teams use cards representing various causes and impacts of climate change.
  • Collaborative mapping: Participants place these cards on a tourism map, revealing real-life cause-effect and adaptation-mitigation relationships.
  • Vision and solution development: The game concludes with defining a shared transition vision and selecting specific climate solutions.

This process visualizes climate action concretely at a local level, turning participants into proactive climate actors in their tourism destinations.
