Sustainable mobility

01 | our goal

What is the Sustainable Mobility project about ?

We aim at achieving sustainable and deep decarbonization in Swiss mobility while guaranteeing high quality of life across all social groups. For this purpose, we adopt an avoid-shift-improve-replace approach and, by co-designing interventions with citizens and key stakeholders, we explore novel ways to reduce mobility demand, promote multi- and inter-modal mobility, and favour use of low carbon transport modes.

03 | our Methods and interventions

We use a combination of co-design and scientific experimentation to engage stakeholders, drive behavioural change and provide strict evidence on the effects:

  • Analysis of the Winterthur 31DAYS Challenge: by surveying four cohorts of participants  to the 31DAYS trial, we draw evidence on its effectiveness in reducing car use and promoting multi-modal alternatives such as e-bike, public transport, and car-sharing, and even on reducing car ownership, towards car-free living.
